What causes acne?
Acne is caused when hair follicles are blocked. Sebaceous glands are attached to hair follicles and lubricate skin and hair by producing an oily substance known as sebum. Acne is the result of these glands producing an excess of sebum which then mixes with dead skin cells and plugs the follicle. Acne can cause 6 main different types of spots:
